If you’re looking to travel back in time, where wilderness is king, look no further than our trip through Western Canada Camping Trip through British Columbia and the Yukon all the way up to Alaska in spring or autumn. Animals, glaciers, and varying cultures that have been thriving for hundreds of years in this unforgiving land will captivate and inspire the most avid of traveler. On the roads we’ll be traveling, you’re more likely to see bears, moose, and caribou over seeing another traveler. The mountain views out our spacious windows are immense and you’ll need plenty of space on your memory card. When we finally do reach local villages, you’ll be given an insight into native culture with the ‘Ksan Historical Village or entertained by the city perpetually set in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush. CALGARY
Day 1: Arrive for Group Meeting and Dinner (H)
BANFF
Days 2/3: We will try and visit Lake Louise and / or hike in any of the surroundings/amazing lakes close to Banff. The following day we can enjoy the small but vibrant town of Banff, hike Tunnel/Sulphur Mountains or visit the Banff Hot Springs (optional) to soak overlooking the Canadian Rockies. (C)
ICEFIELDS PARKWAY
Day 4: One of the most picturesque drives in all of North America. Make sure your camera batteries are charged because it will be firing non-stop with all the breathtaking views and over 200 glaciers. (C)
JASPER
Day 5/6: Less touristy than Banff, Jasper is no less an entertaining little town. We will explore Maligne Canyon and lake with abundant hiking opportunities, mountain biking and other optional activities are available along with wildlife viewing. (C)
YELLOWHEAD HIGHWAY
Day 7/8: Traverse Alberta into British Columbia along the Yellowhead Highway and Mt Robson. Camp along the Fraser Lake and explore this old fur-trading post area. (BC)
FIRST NATION VILLAGE
Day 9: Visit the ‘Ksan Historical Village where you’ll experience the village and learn of its heritage as it has existed for centuries. (C)
MEZIADIN LAKE
Day 10: We’ll make our way to the start of the Cassiar Highway along with a side trip to the Bear Glacier. (BC)
CASSIAR HIGHWAY
Days 11/12: One of the most scenic and prolific roads to spot black bear. “Into the wild” is an understatement. The Cassiar Highway was part of the Hudson Trading Company, mining, and logging. (BC)
WHITEHORSE
Day 13/14: Whitehorse is located on the Yukon River where you can check out the historic paddleboat, the SS Klondike. An included side trip to the town of Skagway where the Klondike Gold Rush started from the waters here and climbed up the Chilkoot Pass. (C)
DAWSON CITY
Day 15/16/17: A visit to this lively and historic Klondike gold rush city perpetually set in 1896 includes checking out Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall, Jack London’s cabin, and trying the Sour Toe Cocktail. Don’t forget free gold panning! (BC)
CHICKEN/TOK
Day 18/19: Cross over the Yukon River on a short ferry ride to drive the Top of the World Highway. See remnants of old mining operations along the way to Chicken, AK. (C)
ANCHORAGE
Day 20: A beautiful drive on our final day surrounded by the Wrangell and Chugach Mountains. There are some spectacular views of the Matanuska glacier on our way to Anchorage (-)
